Aurora Motorsports was founded by Jonothan Benefield in 2002 and is the largest importer of CN Sports prototype race cars in the US. Its principle and owner, Jonothan Benefield has been involved in motor sports since the early sixties where he decided to give up his musical carrier to go racing. He started his racing carrier by attending Jim Russell Racing school and Brands Hatch Motor Racing Stables in England . He then went on to race a variation of cars including a Lotus Seven /Ford Escort and other saloon type race cars including a ford GT40 and Nathan GT car. In 1967 Jonothan had a bad accident at the famous Brands Hatch circuit in England which almost took his life but after a lengthy recovery continued to compete in race events throughout Europe.


Jonothan then met up with ex-Jim Clarke mechanic, Dave Lazenby who built him a Hawk DL2A Formula Ford and he competed in various Formula Ford championship events in England. Jonothan always had a passion for sports cars and after obtaining sponsorship with a London publicity company, purchased a Royal RP 17 with a BDA engine to race in sports car events including the Motoring News Sports Car Championship in which he won his class. Jonothan then went on to race other types of sports cars including Chevron and March 2 liter sports cars in England and Europe. During this time he also took his hand to some Formula 3 races and also drove a Mc Laren F 5000 car in several events.
