Building Maintenance > Home Renovation Supplies
Established in 1860, the funeral home was initially named Burnett & Rockefeller. The Burnett & Rockefeller was merged, by then owner-Ken Giek to its current Red Hook location, with the Hand Funeral Home in the early 1980's and was called Burnett, Rockefeller, & Hand Funeral Home. Ken subsequently purchased the White Funeral Home in Rhinebeck from William White. The two locations, Burnett, Rockefeller & Hand Funeral Home in Red Hook and the White Funeral Home in Rhinebeck, kept their respective names until 1999- when both respective names were combined to form the Burnett & White Funeral Homes. The name change or combining was simply to create a feasible website address; Burnett, Rockefeller & Hand and White Funeral Home was simply to long. So Burnett & White Funeral Homes was born.
After working at the firm for a number of years, Bruce Troy and his wife Eleanor began purchasing the funeral homes. Taking full ownership of the firm in 2009. Both Bruce and Eleanor work at the funeral homes full time and carry on the over 150 year tradition of serving the family of the Northern Dutchess and Southern Columbia Counties with care and compassion. Continuing the family tradition, their daughter, Clare joined the firm in 2017 following her graduation from Siena College, and she currently is serving her residency.
