In 1957, Mr. Leo Stefansky was a humble man with a passion for healthful seafood. He decided to share his interest in all-things-fish with the world. Aware of the most pristine oceans for quality tuna, he set out to do business with the fisheries that scoured those waters. Patiently and meticulously, Mr. Stefansky canned the tuna he had procured. He gave his company a name: Dagim.
He rented a truck and began his rounds. From shop to shop, from diner to diner, he offered his Dagim canned tuna. He expected shop owners to be wary of a new company. He expected slow, but hopefully steady, sales of his item. What he did not expect was the barrage of phone calls he received a mere two weeks into his truck rounds. Shopkeepers, restaurant proprietors, diner owners – everyone was clamoring for more. Quality is easily recognizable. A simple try of this new canned tuna was all it took for the housewives and chefs of that time. They knew a winner when they tasted it. And so, Dagim was launched into the world.From its modest beginnings, Dagim grew into a seafood company that ships internationally and produces a variety of products: Freshly frozen Tilapia, Salmon, Flounder, Breaded Filets, Canned Sardines, Canned tuna, Canned Salmon, and more. If it’s seafood and it’s kosher, Dagim produces it. We are proud of the reputation our products enjoy. Our tilapia has won three different awards for excellence!Although Dagim has expanded remarkably, it is still, at heart, the company it started out as. Owned and operated by the Stefansky family for three generations, Dagim still displays the personal interest and passion for seafood with which the business originated.
