The Greater Wenatchee Irrigation District (GWID) is currently seeking candidates to fulfill the District Manager/Secretary Role. This position’s responsibilities are to provide water to district patrons in the most efficient and cost-effective manner, improve the District’s financial standing by seeking funding opportunities, maintain positive working relationships, treat employees with respect and ensure a safe work environment, provide exceptional professional customer service, maintain public trust through transparency and accountability, build relationships through honesty and cooperation, and implement the GWID Conservation Plan and Modernization Plan. GWID is a Washington governmental Special District, non-profit, Bureau of Reclamation project overseen by five board of directors. The District provides irrigation water delivery to land in Chelan and Douglas Counties. It currently has 7 employees.
The Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be capable of representing the District competently in various professional settings to customers, the local community, other organizations, and governmental agencies to guarantee positive relationships. We are looking for a personable and innovative leader who will maintain superb public and diplomatic relations and has a record of previous professional accomplishments.
Experience and Qualifications
Any combination of education, training, or experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a manager in the operation of similar irrigation works, or has been employed for at least five (5) years in a responsible position operating and maintaining irrigation works equivalent in complexity to our project works.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Engineering, Construction Management, Business or Public Administration, or related field is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
The starting salary is negotiable and will be dependent on the qualifications and experience of the applicant.
The District offers a benefits package that includes paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays. Medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage for employee and dependents is paid by the District. Life insurance, Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), PERS Retirement, and a District vehicle will be provided.
