Families are referred to the facility via a contractual relationship with N.Y.C. Department of Homeless Services. Families share fully equipped , furnished apartments for 4-8 months after which time they move on to permanent affordable housing. Mothers are required to attain employment so that they, despite the availability of housing assistance, can meet the required rent contribution in order to obtain and maintain permanent housing.
The shelter staff is compiled if 17 dedicated men and women who provide 24 hour per day, 7 days per week care and services to the families.
