Kuckenbecker Tractor Company has been serving the needs of Central Valley Farmers since 1945. Kuckenbecker Tractor Company has carried with it a reputation for quality products and outstanding service ever since Lowell Kuckenbecker opened his dealership in Madera, Ca. Lowell was a farm equipment salesman in Fresno during the late 1930’s and 40’s. At that time, the dealership was under the name and ownership of the Schwabenland family, which was the first Ford tractor dealership in the Fresno area. Pete Schwabenland was a great mechanic, and is credited with inventing many of the tools and implements for the popular 9N model tractor. Henry Ford himself came out in 1941 to see first-hand what Pete was doing with all the tractors he was selling. They were used to help level land and plant fig orchards in the Fig Garden area. In 1945 Lowell bought the Madera dealership and opened it as Kuckenbecker Tractor Co. When we first started in Madera, the biggest part of our business was for row crops, hay in particular, now orchard equipment is popular with the removal of vineyards and new plantings of almonds. At the age of 21, Lowell’s son Richard, began selling tractors in Madera. At the time he was playing baseball for Pete Biden at Fresno State. Since that time, Richard has taken over the operation of the business and expanded the Madera dealership and moved it to its current location. In 1982 Richard was able to purchase Fresno Ford Tractor from Chuck Stephan and built the facility it occupies today. Kuckenbecker Tractor has always been a family owned and operated business and that is still true today. Richard’s son Erich, and his wife Joanna are fixtures in the Madera dealership and have taken over many of the daily activities that Richard did when he first took over.
