As the owner of Landcraft, I thank you for giving me the opportunity to work on your project. Thirtyseven years ago I started in this business, and formed Landcraft in 1991. In the early 80s I supervised and ran crews for some of the most well‐known Landscape Architects in Austin. Over the decades I've seen most landscape companies come and go, while we have stood the test of time. Why? We will never compromise on quality.
I started designing projects 32 years ago and have extensive experience in all aspects of this business. In the early eighties I started growing native plants when, believe it or not, you couldn't find many native plants in any nurseries.
Over the decades I've discovered the key elements necessary to have a successful outcome.
Firstly, proper time spent on a design is elemental. I do not hire designers, or sales people, who come and go and have a limited range of experience or have the construction experience necessary for successful designs. I design all projects myself, and stay closely involved with my clients to give each job the necessary attention which they deserve, supervising every job. We still do one job at a time in order to maintain control and give your project that personal attention. I focus on low maintenance design, which to me, is putting the right plant in the right place in order to minimize pruning.
The main failure of most landscapes is yard maintenance people, who really just focus on mowing, edging and blowing and when necessary, pruning. Unfortunately, growing plants are often ruined in order to give the client their “pruning package.” I limit this damage by offering pruning and fertilizing services for my jobs, in order to maintain the look which was intended on the drafting table.
It is common for us to come in on a project, after a builders landscaping is done, and redesign…using plants that were put in the wrong places or will most likely be ruined by maintenance people. Likewise it is common for us to come in and pull out other landscapers’ work because it was substandard or just poorly thought out. Too often, new construction landscaping is an afterthought, and done quickly and cheaply because that’s what the builder wants. Since it’s the first impression of your new home, that’s certainly not what the omeowner values!
I do not sub out any work, but I have my own skilled craftsmen, who’ve been trained and supervised by me over 20 years. Our specialty in landscaping design and installation is to pull together high quality, beautiful stone work, proper planting design, including deer resistant and drought resistant plants, as well as the irrigation modifications needed, drainage solutions, exterior lighting, pond creation and more.
We are a 5‐star company and that doesn't come by accident. My goal is to provide my clients with the very best, and for them to be assured that their hard‐earned money will not be wasted; they will have a beautiful, low‐maintenance yard they will be proud of for years to come.
