We want to warmly thank you for being part of our story and letting us be part of your innumerable projects! The history of Marvac Electronics goes back to 1965 when Deno Vaccher, founder of Marvac, began to seriously entertain the idea of starting his own business. After years of working at his brother, Leo’s, store Orvac Electronics in Fullerton, California; Deno knew if he was to open his own store it needed to be near the beach, where he also hoped to move one day. With the support of his wife, Marlene, and his brother’s blessing, Deno opened Marvac’s first location in Costa Mesa, CA. From the very beginning family and community has been at the forefront of our identity, the “Mar” in Marvac is a nod to Marlene and “Vac” for Vaccher.
Marvac’s origins were selling TV Antenna’s and TV/Radio tubes to the routine customers of TV repair men, who visited daily to pick up the tubes and/or antennas needed for the day as they headed to their own customer’s homes. Deno saw the potential of the electronics market and moved his brick and mortar from Placentia Ave. to Newport Blvd. and later again to 1870 Harbor Blvd. (what is now Triangle square), which allowed him the space to carry a very extensive catalog of Integrated Circuits and to still introduce the newest products as they became available. Marvac was now selling to the public and catering to their electronic demands.
In 1985, Marvac moved once more to its current location 2001 Harbor Blvd. Costa Mesa, CA. Deno’s three sons, who grew up in and around the store, took roles in the business allowing Deno to expand his successful operations to other cities. Marvac opened two other locations in Sacramento, CA and Monterey, CA followed by the acquiring of a 10-location chain of electronic stores, previously called DOW Electronics. Marvac spent the next 25+ years assisting California businesses, utility departments, schools, state faculties, and the local customer base as well.
With the rising popularity of the Internet, Deno and his son’s saw the already-changing market and realized that brick-and-mortar locations would soon give way to Internet entities like eBay and online shopping. Accepting that the gravity of the Internet was not going away anytime soon, they made the crucial decision to downsize and focus on building an online presence. Marvac sold off many of their locations to local entrepreneurs who recognized the need of a hometown store and wanted to keep a local presence.
By 2014, Marvac was back to a one-store location in Costa Mesa and a thriving & ever-growing Internet community that not only serviced the greater state of California but many countries around the world. This brings us to the present and the state of excitement we feel for the future.
The Vaccher family has always recognized and valued our customers and credited them as being the root to our success. We will continue to provide quality products and exceptional service as our way of saying Thank You.
