Since 1981, The Leong family has successfully operated the May Jen restaurant on Kenmore Avenue, across from University of New York at Buffalo’s South Campus. Jim, an engineer at Moog Inc. and Sue, a cancer research scientist at Roswell Park Cancer Center had devoted their spare time to introduce Asian-inspired cuisine to May Jen’s customers. Although the sister location on Elmwood Avenue is no longer in operation, May Jen Kenmore has offered a fine dining experience for over 36 years.
A kitchen fire in January 2018 forced the closure of May Jen for extensive renovation. Now completed, these renovations include the addition of a new outdoor patio for the dining pleasure of our customers. May Jen has moderate prices in a casual atmosphere featuring a variety of Asian-inspired cuisine. The restaurant prides itself on offering: friendly and efficient service with affordable meals from across Asia. Each order is made from scratch using wholesome and fresh ingredients. May Jen is known for our signature ginger garlic chicken, but we also offer other ever popular dishes including: General Tso’s chicken, Mongolian beef, honey walnut shrimp, and a varied selection of wok-tossed noodles and rice. Our servers are happy to help you select gluten free, heart healthy and vegetarian dishes. We are proud to offer our customers a mix of dine-in, take-out (with online ordering), delivery, and off-site catering are extremely popular and in high demand.
