Building Maintenance > Building Equipment and Tools
In October, 1929, the stock market crashed, throwing the United States into the worst economic recession the country had ever seen. It would become known as the Great Depression, which lasted over a decade.
When 1934 rolled around, Bill Peters decided to open a hardware store. Despite having little money, Bill was set on serving farmers in the area. Bill gathered $ 300.00 worth of merchandise and opened Peters Hardware in the Opportunity Township area of Spokane Valley.
Opening a hardware store amid the Great Depression was an extremely difficult task. After all, many people didn’t have a lot of money, and neither did many businesses. Nonetheless, thanks to the ambition and drive of Bill Peters, what was once a small corner store, grew into a strong and respected family business.
Today, nearly nine decades later, Peters Hardware is thriving. This once small store has outlasted all its competitors.
Over the years, the merchandise at Peters has changed, but its motto has remained the same: “At Peters Hardware, you are not just a number, you are family.”
