Industrial > Industrial Equipment and Machinery
Founded in 1975 by Richard Forster and later joined by his brother David Forster, Rainier Welding began as a fabricator of fireplace inserts and freestanding stoves under the name “Rainier Iron Works”. In 1980, the company moved to its current location in Redmond, Washington and began to performing projects as a general contractor, fabricating steel structures in its shop and installing them in the field for various government entities, including The University of Washington, The Cities of Seattle and Tacoma and The US Army Corps of Engineers.
In 1989, the company shifted its focus towards steel fabrication for the highway, industrial and commercial markets. As the company grew, Rick realized that Rainier’s capabilities in value-added engineering, high-spec welding and large material handling made it well suited to fabricate for other applications, such as the marine and bridge markets. Over the last 45 years, Rainier Welding has successfully fabricated thousands of projects that have enabled America’s infrastructure and commerce to thrive.
Rainier has a reputation for reliable, quality steel that brings back customers time and time again. In honor of that contribution, Rainier has received numerous awards from the National Steel Bridge Alliance (a division of the American Institute of Steel Corporation – AISC), including The 2009 Award of Merit for its work on the Sauk River Bridge; The 2012 Prize Bridge Award in the Long Span Category for its work on the Nooksack River Bridge and The 2014 Prize Bridge Sustainability Commendation Award for its work on the Keene Road Bridge.
Today, the company continues its long tradition of tackling some the toughest, most complex projects on the West Coast.
