Carlos and Meryl Alcabés did not move back to the states due to the lure of the furniture industry. As their children grew, the family decided to move to the Pacific Northwest in order to be closer to where Meryl was raised and her family still lived. Business began in July 1991, and continues stronger than ever today. Meryl has mostly moved on to explore her interest in photography, while Carlos refuses to retire because "NOW (he's) having too much fun."

Their middle son, Max, came on board in 2007 to head up business development and the e-commerce division. Meryl comes to the offices occasionally to ensure that Max's desk is tidy. Once approved, the three can often be seen at a nearby restaurant eating lunch and discussing sofas, websites, and of course--family gossip.
