Something Delicious Bake Shop was founded in 2015 By Mina Hoyt. In February 2020, The bakery was purchased by Stephanie, and Phillip Tomasso. Stephanie who is a self-taught cake decorator, got her start in 2011 after suffering a world shattering injury. Due to her injury, Stephanie had time away from college, and work which gave her the opportunity to learn a new skill. With a lot of inspiration from watching Cake Boss, Stephanie decided what she would dedicate her time too. Within no time “Sweet Mimi’s Cakery” was born! Stephanie grew that business out of her home, until it became to big to manage. Stephanie and her then fiancé Phillip started looking into new opportunities. After a few failed attempts to purchase a bakery, the best opportunity came knocking. Mina Hoyt, had been offered a fantastic new position at the UofR and was looking to sell her bakery. Stephanie now weekly, strives to find fresh new flavors and ideas, to add to the ever expanding list of amazing sweets Something Delicious has to offer!
Taking over during the largest pandemic in modern history, has been no walk in the park! Through the struggle, known as 2020 Stephanie and Phil were proud to say they they placed 4th place, for “Best Bakery In Rochester”, and 3rd Place for “Best Desserts In Rochester”. This accomplishment after owning the business for only one year, was very satisfying for them. They plan on competing next year, and hopefully taking home a first place award in one or both of those categories!
