Sound Propeller Services was established in November 1989 and started operation at 1608 Fairview Avenue E. in Seattle, Washington in February of 1990. The principals and a number of the employees had worked at Coolidge Propeller in the shop and management for 15 - 25 years. The main business of Sound Propeller is the production and repair of commercial marine propellers, propeller shafting, and accessories. We carry a large stock of pleasure boat propellers and stainless steel propeller shaft material. We provide marine bearings, couplings and propeller nuts. We have a working relationship with Sound Propeller Systems LLC which has a qualified and experienced staff to provide service to CP systems, Bow Thrusters, control systems and stern tube seals.


New equipment produced at Sound Propeller has been sent to various countries in North and South America, Europe, and Asia. Repair work comes from owners and yards, in various places in the U.S.A., with our repair technicians frequently traveling to shipyards around the world to provide the service needed.

Our propeller pitching equipment allows us to repair and re-pitch propellers with a great deal of precision. The heavy duty grinding, welding and polishing equipment used in manufacturing our stainless steel propellers also allows efficient re-finishing after propeller repair.

The machine shop at Sound Propeller allows manufacture and repair of shafting up to 48’ in length. We are ABS certified for stainless steel journal cladding.

We manufacture propellers and shafting which are custom to the vessel which uses them. They are sometimes built to designs provided by our customers or can be produced to Sound Propeller Standard or Custom designs. Our propeller sizing experience has helped us to provide consistently reliable propeller sizing and engineering help for our customers and their naval architects. We are happy to discuss propulsion issues with your vessel and willingly can offer suggestions toward solving propeller and shafting problems.
