Texas Ice Cream was started in 2008 in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. An ice cream truck that served fresh, soft-serve ice cream was a novel idea in this part of the country. As we continued to serve more and more folks in neighborhoods from Denton to Fort Worth, we realized that families were anticipating our next visit. Our regular, weekly routes made it possible for families to plan on our arrival with the added bonus of having a little more control of their kids. For the record, kids with messy rooms and incomplete homework never get to have ice cream from the Texas Ice Cream truck. After slowly driving away from a stop in one of our neighborhoods, one driver remarked on how rare it is to see families outside interacting with neighbors, kids playing in the lawn and everyone with a smile on their face. The driver summed up the scene quite nicely by saying, “Bringing neighborhoods together, one ice cream cone at a time.”
