After many years of playing gigs in Austin and central Texas, as well as working for two different music stores, Tommy decided to open his own shop. In the fall of 1978 he began remodeling the first location at 12th & Lamar, and on Jan. 3, 1979 he open the new store. The original concept of the store started, and has remained a specialty drum shop stocking wide variety of drums/percussion instruments, with quality service for all customers – beginner to professional.
